Presentation of hampers held in Gozo

The Gozo presentation of hampers to institutions, families and social cases was held last Sunday at the SMOM Volunteers’ Premises at St. George’s Square in Victoria, Gozo.

This activity was attended by MASMOM President HE Dr Alfred Caruana Galizia and members of the Order of Malta residing in Gozo. The Order of Malta also invited Social Workers, Representatives of the Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo, and OASI, who also represented those people who were going to benefit from this donation. Each hamper consisted of food stuffs and toiletries. Canon Felix Tabone represented St George’s Basilica Parish.

Around 24 hampers were distributed, 3 of which were handed over to St George’s Parish for the most needy social cases. The other hampers were sent to Parishes including Xewkija, the Gozo Cathedral and other entities around Gozo.

Dr Alfred Caruana Galizia expressed his appreciation for the work of the late Mgr John Dimech and stated that the work started by Mgr Dimech towards the sick and the needy will carry on. Mgr Dimech was the power-force behind the Gozo Volunteer Group and the Order of Malta in general.

The MASMOM President also mentioned the relief aid which the Maltese Association of SMOM was going to send to war torn Gaza with the cooperation of the Lebanese Association of the SMOM. Dr Galizia also thanked those who attended the presentation and provided refreshments for the guests.
