€21,000 has been donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund from the GreenPak’s Nirricikla ghall-Istrina nationwide campaign.

The campaign urged households, schools, local councils, companies, entities and social clubs to collect plastic bottle caps for l-Istrina.

GreenPak Coop Society CEO Ing Mario Schembri presented the donation to President Dr George Vella at San Anton Palace in Attard.

The donation is in return to the number of plastic bottle caps collected for recycling during the 2019 campaign, which caps would have otherwise ended in Malta’s landfill.

President George Vella remarked that, “this initiative has two key objectives – to educate children on the protection of the environment and to make them aware of charitable causes. I thank GreenPak for their yearly commitment to collect plastic bottle caps from schools and various entities, while I’m also grateful for their donation towards L-Istrina.”
