Update from Air Malta below – Prime Minister Robert Abela during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon has announced that travel from Switzerland, Germany, Spain and France is banned as from midnight tonight.
All flights to these countries will be cancelled for an indefinite period, apart for the transportation of medicines and food.
Anyone arriving from those countries has to stay in mandatory quarantine in their home for 14-days, the same applies to arrivals from Italy in the past days. Anyone in the same residence will also have to stay in quarantine. Tourists will have to remain in their hotel rooms.
The Prime Minister said that spot checks will be undertaken by Police, with those failing to follow instructions liable to a €1,000. He stressed that people should refrain from unnecessary travel.
Prime Minister Abela highlighted that the elderly should not go out from their homes unless it is necessary
Air Malta has said that following the suspension of travel as above, options available to affected passengers are as follows:

The Ministry will be organising repatriation flights.
2) Non-Maltese Nationals need to contact their respective Embassies.

4) Customers who will not be travelling within 7 days and all other passengers that require refunds can send an email to refundrequest@airmalta.com

How exactly does he define ‘elderly’, does he mean me? I’m 70.
Yes I think he does but it’s not a put down – he’s trying to protect us (I’m 73) so best to accept it in the spirit it has been delivered.
Oh I’m not offended, far from it. Just wanted clarification. We need to keep ourselves safe. Thanks for the response, Keep well.
Thank you – hope we all stay safe and well.
