This Sunday, the 10th of May, is Mother’s Day, which due to the present circumstances will be a very different occasion from previous years.
The National Blood Transfusion Service has said that in such extraordinary times, it would be a wonderful gesture to consider donating blood on this special day, as a way of helping the sick mothers who are currently in hospital across the Maltese Islands.
With this in mind, the Service is urging Gozitans to please donate at a session this Sunday the 10th of May at the Blood Donation Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, between 8:00pm and 1:00pm (last registration until 1:00pm).
The Service said that in light of the Covid-19 outbreak it is important to be reassured that when donating blood “your health will not be put at risk.”
The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
Please read coronavirus guidelines before going to donate blood
The Service advised that if anyone has any questions about blood donation in connection with Covid-19 they are invited to call between 8am until 6pm on 80074313 of 79307307 or for more information. As a basic rule, anyone who is in quarantine can not give blood.
The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.
