Watch – 11 more hatchlings have emerged overnight from the turtle nest at Ramla Bay, Gozo, Nature Trust Malta said this morning.

62 Loggerhead turtle eggs hatched during the early hours of Sunday morning. The hatchlings first started emerging up through the sand at 1.50am on Sunday morning, with 62 hatchlings counted up till 6.45am that morning.

A female loggerhead turtle was spotted laying eggs on Ramla Bay at the end of May, the first recorded and confirmed nest in Gozo after 70 years.

Nature Trust Malta said that the turtle came out of the sea at around 10pm and left around 11.30pm

Nature Trust Malta thanked all the volunteers (from Gozo and Malta) ERA officials and the Ministry of Gozo for their support. More updates will be provided later.
