72 new Covid-19 cases, with today's cases "still being investigated"A record number of 72 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 20 recoveries.

In their update on facebook, the Health Authorities said that “today’s cases are still being investigated and people who have been in contact with positive cases will be personally contacted by public health officials in the coming hours.”

Authorities also said however, that from preliminary investigations “some of the cases are contacts of previously known cases.”

There were 2,435 swab tests taken, making 154,522 since the start.

As of today’s date, not including today’s new cases, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has said that for Malta, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 88.3 It is showing the total number of cases as 1,175.

It noted that the cases reported for Malta do not include the positive migrant cases, who disembarked in Malta and were quarantined upon arrival.

There are now 557 active cases, with 1,348 cases in total. 782 have recovered and there have been 9 deaths.

The authorities are recommending that the public avoid all crowded areas.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.

It is nonsense to exclude the immigrants because they are in quarantine. Locals who are in quarantine are counted, and – presumably – the immigrants require attention of locals (who presumably would also be counted) who treat the infected immigrants, who feed them and guard them.
So, to exclude their number appears dishonest. They are among the people in Malta who have the disease.

Malta should get out of the EU. Its is a simple vote from the Maltese people. That is all it takes to get out of the EU. Malta is too over crowded. Before you could get a seat on the bus and now you have to stand and wait on long lines.
