The National Blood Transfusion Service is reminding the public on Gozo that there is the chance to donate blood during a session taking place this Sunday.
The Service said that anyone currently waiting to take a Covid-19 test, or who has had the test and is waiting for the result, cannot give blood.
Those Gozitans who are healthy and eligible to donate are invited to please do so at the next session tomorrow, Sunday, the the 16th of August, at the Blood Donation Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, between 8:00am and 1:00pm (last registration until 1:00pm).
The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.
The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.
“Blood donors are informed that no swabbing tests are carried out at any stage of the blood donation,” the Service said.
