Bishop Mario Grech was recently invited by APS Bank for a farewell visit prior to his departure for the Vatican to take up his appointment as the new Pro-Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops.

APS Bank Chairman Mr Frederick Mifsud Bonnici, expressed his thanks to Mgr Grech for his interest and support throughout his years at the helm of the Diocese of Gozo, the Bank’s second largest shareholder.

Short speeches followed after which Mgr Grech was presented with an oil on board dated 2012 by Maltese artist Richard Saliba, showing the Gozo Citadel and surrounding landscape in Saliba’s unique style and palette of contrasting colours.

Bishop Grech took the opportunity to thank the Bank’s Board and Management for their “unwavering commitment to the economic and social progress of the Maltese Islands” and encouraged them to step up further the Bank’s leading community role especially in these times of challenge.

The event was also attended by Mgr Eddie Zammit, Mr Victor Gusman, Administrative Secretary of the Diocese and APS Bank Board member, CEO Marcel Cassar and other Senior Management members.
