Health authorities said that 121 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past 24-hours with 39 recoveries, there are now 1,845 active cases, with today’s cases “still being investigated.”

From yesterday’s 121 cases, authorities said that 43 were family members of previously known cases, 12 were contacts of positive work colleagues, 4 were direct contacts with other positive cases and 1 case was from social gatherings with other positive cases, 3 cases from Paceville and 4 were imported. Details were not given for the other outstanding 54 sporadic cases.

The total number of cases are now up to 5,373 There have been 3,478 recoveries and 50 deaths, the Ministry said. There were 3,144 swab tests taken, with 314,619 having been taken since the start.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – is showing figures for Malta up to this morning and not including today’s so the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000, is 339.8 with the number of cases showing as 5,258 and 49 deaths. Malta is currently in eleventh position in the EU/EEA and UK. Czechia is at the top with 1210.8

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
