Worldwide shortage of flu vaccine means insufficient supply in pharmaciesThe current shortage of flu vaccines in pharmacies is due to a worldwide shortage of the vaccine, said the Malta Chamber of Pharmacists and the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises.

In a statement on Thursday, they said that this situation of insufficient suplyly has meant that authorised agents are unable to meet the demand of private pharmacies.

While pharmacists and pharmacies are doing their best, both organisations warned that “the impossible cannot be done if the stock of the vaccine is scarce and not enough is being distributed by the agents in response to orders made months ago.”

They called on the public to understand the situation in these extraordinary circumstances of the pandemic “and not to resort to any disrespect to pharmacists or their pharmacy staff.”

They went on to urge the public, “in the event of non-private use, to resort to public structures in accordance with the instructions of the Health Authorities.
