Dun Karm Xerri, rector of the Comino Chapel for 54 years, has passed away at the age of 88.
He was was born in Floriana, Malta on the 2nd of November 2, 1934 and spent the first years of his childhood in Tarxien and Paola, Malta, from there his family moved to Qala.
He entered the Gozo Seminary in 1947 and was ordained a priest on the 18th of March 1961 by Bishop Joseph Pace.
Dun Karm Xerri celebrated his first Solemn Mass on the 5th of May 1961 and initially began his priestly work as Parish Vicar of Qala from 1961 to 1963.
In addition to his pastoral work in Comino, he gave Mass at 5.00am in the parish, as well as that of 6.30am.
Dun Karm Xerri’s funeral is on Tuesday, the 5th of January at 4pm at Qala Parish Church and will be broadcast live on Radju Lehen il-Qala.
