A €120,000 scheme for voluntary organisations that work and carry out initiatives for the benefit of the Gozitan community, has been launched by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri. He said that this amount is an increase on last year of more than 20%.

During the event, Minister Camilleri also presented the financial allocation to the 10 voluntary organisations that applied and were selected to benefit from last year’s scheme, but which will carry out their initiative this year.

These organisations are, Gozo SPCA, Ta’ Cangura Folk Group San Lawrenz, The Don Bosco Oratory, Malta Cadets Corps, The Eden and Razzett – Inspire, Ghaqda Hbieb tal-Presepju Ghawdex Malta – Ghajnsielem Section, The Gozo Business Chamber, Santa Margerita Musical Society, Happy Parenting – Malta and the St Gregory Musical Society of Kercem.

The Gozo Minister said, “during this pandemic the government didn’t reduce the financial allocation to these organisations that do great good in the community, but actually increased it.”

“This aid is another clear demonstration of how much the Ministry for Gozo under my leadership has absolute confidence in the dozens of Gozitan volunteers who work tirelessly and offer their time to the community,” he said.

The Minister explained that the ultimate goal of this scheme is to strengthen, among others, the social, cultural and ecological fields in Gozo. He added that through this, “we will continue to promote and encourage a culture of volunteering and participation in volunteer activities among Gozitan society.”

He thanked all the organisations that applied for this scheme, saying that he looked forward to more work and collaboration between these voluntary organisations and the Ministry for Gozo.
