After the Ministry for Gozo resurfaced and widened Ghajn Qatet Street in Victoria, instead of those sick awful trees which attracted nothing but flies and insects, a central strip was placed instead and adorned with flowering plants which are regularly cared for and watered.

However this central strip has become a central dump for garbage…..This is central strip, not a central dump for garbageThe Victoria Council placed two notices warning that no garbage can be placed there, not even in the allowed hours before collection.

The perpetrators seem to be alien to the Maltese laws and to Council’s authority.

It seems that even by-law notices have no effect! What can be done to keep our neighbourhood clean?

This rubbish only seems to have started appearing since one of the empty commercial units was turned into a small shop.

This is a common practice all over the island and the trash pickers encourage it. Trash should be placed in front of their property and no where else.
