95 Covid-19 cases recorded , 229 recoveries, with 33 hospitalised, 2 in ITU95 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight from the 3,795 swab tests taken, making a positivity rate of 2.50%.

There have been 229 recoveries, taking the number of active cases in Malta and Gozo to 2,060.

A total of 33 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, down from 36 yesterday. This number includes 2 in the ITU, which is 1 more than yesterday, Authorities said.

The average age of yesterday’s 91 cases was 32.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 34.090 and there have been 31,211 recoveries and 423 deaths.

1,083,490 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic.

The number of vaccines administered is now at 751,546 up until yesterday. 375,373 people are now fully vaccinated.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 29th of July, it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 33,762 and the number of deaths showing is 421. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is up once again to 490.12  from 379.35 in the previous week. Malta remains the 4th highest in the EU. 

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
