Update below – Professor Albert Fenech, a renowned cardiologist, has passed away at the age of 70. According to reports in the media he was found inside his home and it is believed he died of natural causes.

In 1995, Prof Fenech founded the Cardiology Department in Malts with cardiologist Alex Manche.

In a statement The Nationalist Party paid tribute to the memory of Albert Fenech and expressed its sincere condolences to his family and friends, following his death.

”In addition to an excellent career in the medical profession, Fenech also served as a Member of Parliament on behalf of the Nationalist Party between 2013 and 2016,’ it said.

The PN described his loss as ”a loss for Malta.”

Health Minister Chris Fearne, writing on Twitter said, ”a colleague and a gentleman. Contributed greatly to the advancement of medical care in Malta. Will be sorely missed by friends and patients alike! RIP Albert.”

Update – The Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia, on his behalf and on behalf of the Parliamentarians, paid tribute to the memory of the former deputy Albert Fenech, who passed away today, and offered condolences to the family.
