A transport grants package has been launched by Transport Malta which offer financial incentives for Maltese families to make use of more sustainable and efficient means of road transport.

A total of nine grants are being launched and will apply from the 1st of January 2022. They include – New EV Vehicles; New or used Plugin Hybrid, and used Electric Vehicles; Use of LPG as Fuel for vehicles; New Category L Petrol Motorcycles; New Low Emission Petrol and Diesel Vehicles; New Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles; Retrofitting of Approved Photovoltaic Panels on Passenger Transport Vehicles; Retrofitting of DPFs and SCR Systems on Heavy Duty Vehicles; Retrofitting of Battery Electric Powertrains; and Conversion of Bicycles to Pedelecs.

This grants package worth around 20 million is in the form of schemes in favour of both the environment and sustainable transport.
