An 83-year old woman has passed away during the past 24 hours while Covid-19 positive, authorities said.

The number of new Covid-19 cases continues to rise with another 229 found overnight and 82 recoveries, which now takes the number of active cases in Malta and Gozo up to 1,673.

Those requiring treatment in hospital has also risen with 51 in Mater Dei Hospital including 1 who is in ITU (figures for Gozo General Hospital have not been updated).

There have been 618 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The number of booster doses administered up until yesterday is 347,315.
