Amateur Gozo Football has been launched and is the first official entity set up specifically to organise amateur football competitions in Gozo.

Amateur Gozo Football is an organisation set up in 2022 by a group of like-minded enthusiasts to organise small-sided football competitions on the island of Gozo.

Its first competitive structure will be ‘The Monday League’ for which registrations have been closed and fixtures drawn. These matches will be played at the Oratory Youths pitch in Victoria.The organisation said that throughout the football season, further competitions will be organised, such as a knock-out competition open for external participants, “since interest has exceeded expectations.”

Amateur Gozo Football explained that its aim is to provide an opportunity to all those who have a love of sport, as well as keep an active lifestyle to participate in an amateur and safe environment.

“This initiative will fight inactivity and promote physical activity which can have a profound impact on our long-term health.” it said.

The Executive Committee of Amateur Gozo Football said that it would like to thank the Ministry for Gozo for the support for this initiative.
