Outbound tourist trips in the second quarter this year reached 189,443 (+35.4%), while total nights spent amounted to 1,252,385 nights (+31.2%).

Data released by the National Statistics Office today also show that Italy remained the most popular destination with a share of 39.9%.

The majority of guest nights (50.5%) were spent in non-rented accommodation establishments.

Outbound tourist trips in the first half of 2023 reached 347,623 (+52.4%) while total nights spent surpassed 2.3 million nights (+45.1%).

The NSO noted that total tourism expenditure for the same period was estimated at €297.3 million (+62.7%) while expenditure per capita stood at €855 (+6.7%).
