Minister Robert Abela and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen visited the Nadur primary school on Friday morning.

The Prime Minister said that “this new school is a concrete example of owning the future. Of turning challenges into opportunities, through leadership.”

In a statement, the Office of the Prime Minister said that the project of work on the school “was completed with a capital investment of more than €6 million from European funds under the NextGenerationEU Program through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of Malta.”

It included new open and recreational spaces and new spaces for teaching extracurricular subjects, including performing arts. In the works carried out accessibility to the school was addressed in the building several measures were introduced in favour of energy efficiency, the statement read.

After the visit to the school together with the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima and the Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett, the Prime Minister and the President of the European Commission addressed the journalists present.

Prime Minister Robert Abela defined the Nadur school project as “a concrete example of how to solidly build the future. He said that the school is part of a tangible difference that will leave wealth in the community.”

“This is a project that will be a tool for citizens to have the skills of the future,” stressed Prime Minister Abela, also noting how “the future is the green core.”

The Prime Minister thanked the European Commission and its President for the NextGenerationEU programme because this is a means of promoting wealth even among island regions such as Gozo.
