The 1km Triq l-Imgarr project in Nadur, has been inaugurated by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri.

This is a main artery that has had to be rebuilt from the ground up with a complex structure due to the clay terrain in which it is located, the Minister said.

He explained that the works on this road required specialised structures of retaining walls as well as a system of piles and columns so that the road could be built on a stable base in the clay.

This project included the rebuilding of the road, added road safety systems to reduce the risk of accidents, the rebuilding of the retaining walls and rubble wall and other facilities to allow the necessary services to pass under the road.

The Minister spoke about other roads that have been completed within this project, including Triq iz-Zewwieqa and Triq Sant’ Antnin.

Minister Camilleri concluded by saying that in the coming weeks further reconstruction of important roads will be announced “in order to further strengthen the infrastructure on the island of Gozo.”
