The Acts of Kindness programme has been launched for school children in Gozo and Malta, d forms part of the Personal, Social, and Career Development (PSCD) Curriculum in schools.

This has been made possible through a collaboration between the Ministry for Education and the Maltese Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (MSPCA).

Through this project a new booklet of exercises will be distributed in classrooms around Gozo and Malta with activities intended to be used in the classroom as part of the PCSD curriculum to cover curriculum subjects through animal welfare to get the message across.

In addition, people from the MSPCA will be available to visit schools to talk about this booklet in relation to the PSCD curriculum subjects and the importance of animal welfare.

Minister for Education Clifton Grima said, “through this collaboration we are continuing to give importance to the protection of animals and we will continue to teach children about a subject that is also close to their hearts. I reiterate that complete education means raising children as responsible citizens in every sector of life.”

Louiselle Grech from the MSPCA explained that the organisation has been engaged in animal protection education in schools as part of the curriculum for decades.

She continued by saying that this project is intended as one of the many means to promote empathy, responsible behavior, and more awareness about the protection of animals.
