Din l-Art Helwa’s 60th anniversary was celebrated on the 9th of July, and this important milestone was marked with the launch of a unique MaltaPost stamp set featuring Daniel Cilia’s artistic photographs and exhibition of the heritage sites restored and managed by the organisation.

The exhibition is hosted at the MaltaPost Museum and Art Hub at 135 Archbishop Street and is open Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm and Saturday between 10am to 2pm till the 23rd of July.

Patrick Calleja, Executive President of the organisation said “60 years is a great achievement for a voluntary organization. Din l-Art Helwa was an early pioneer of the conservation movement in Malta, has restored some 60 monuments and works of art for the benefit of the nation since then, and still campaigns strongly for the preservation of traditional architecture and the landscape.”

Opening the exhibition, he thanked Daniel Cilia for immortalising so much of Malta’s beauty through his photographs and capturing rare images of the heritage sites saved by Din l-Art Helwa for the nation. “None of those sites would still be standing had the organisation not taken the initiative to salvage them from neglect.”

The unique MaltaPost Stamp set can be purchased at €35 plus vat from 133 Melita St, Valletta, offices of Din l-Art Helwa and by emailing info@dinlarthelwa.org or ring 21220358.
