The Artistic Swimming National Championships have been held at the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion, Victoria, Gozo, attended by 220 athletes and officials from 17 different countries.
The event was visited by Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, who said that these countries ”chose here for five full days of competitions held at the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion. These competitions which were open to the public also attracted more sports tourism to this island. As a Ministry we remain committed to supporting events such as these so that Gozo continues to be placed on the world sports map and attracts more international level competitions.”
He noted that this was the fourth time this prestigious competition has been held and the first time in Gozo. These championships offered a magnificent display of precision, strength and artistry in the water, with the competitions running from last Thursday to Sunday.
Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that ”with the international talent that had gathered on the island of Gozo for the artistic swimming competitions, the event was one of the main sporting events of the week, as well as a very important moment for local artistic swimming.”
