The Xlendi Administrative Committee with the assistance of The Sports Initiative Scheme 2012 managed by the Department for Local Government together with The Malta Council for Sports is inviting Xlendi and Munxar residents to participate in trekking activities along Xlendi’s coastline, as part of the initiative promoting physical activity.

These trekking activities are going to be held this coming Saturday, the 7th and Sunday, the 8th April of 2012, starting at 2.00 in the afternoon.

Route one starts from in front of Xlendi Tower, after visiting the Tower the route continues towards Sanap cliffs, Tal-Bardan and Ta’ Cenc reaching its end at Mgarr ix-Xini Bay.

Route two starts at Xlendi leading towards Dwejra passing through Ghoroba cliffs, Wied Sansun, Gebel San Gorg, Ghadira San Raflu and a visit to Dwejra Tower. Afterwards, participants will be provided with transport back to Xlendi.

During these guided walks, qualified guides from Nature Trust will be giving explanation talks regarding the nearby flora and fauna. These walks are free of charge, however, whose visiting the Towers will be kindly asked to donate 2 euros towards the maintenance of these historic places.

Participants are recommended to wear clothes that are light and suitable for trekking.

Since the number of participants is limited, those interested are urged to contact the Munxar Local Council on 21558755 or by e-mailing on munxar.lc@gov.mt .

All applications must arrive at Munxar Local Council by not later than Noon of Thursday, the 5th of April 2012. Late applications will not be considered.

In the last day or so before the activities, all participants will receive an e-mail from the Xlendi Administrative Committee providing more details.
