The Technical Regulations Division within the Malta Competition and Consumers Affairs Authority (MCCAA) are advising consumers who bought a ‘Heavy Duty Safety Helmet’ branded ‘Daniel Professional Tools,’ to stop using this product immediately.
The safety helmet is distinguished as yellow in colour and classified as ‘Item No: T-611’.
The ‘Daniel Professional Tools’ safety helmet does not conform to the applicable EU Directives and thus poses a serious risk to consumers. These safety helmets were placed on the market as a part product having no harness which is considered as an integral part of the safety helmet as stated by the applicable standard.
Without the harness, the product does not afford the necessary protection from falling objects to the user. Hence the product is being withdrawn from the market and recalled from all consumers.
The Technical Regulations Division of the Authority advises all consumers that have bought this type of safety helmets to stop using these products and to return them to the place of purchase. The Division also warns economic operators to refrain from selling this product and to remove them from the market.
Warning Regarding Hazardous adaptors
The consumer is also advised to look out for electrical adaptors as the ones in the photograph.
This type of product can be dangerous as when plugged in a socket outlet, but not in use with an appliance, it opens the shutters and makes it possible for the user to come into contact with live conductors.
This product hence poses a serious risk to unaware or vulnerable consumers such as children.
Because of the risk imposed on the consumer these products are being recalled from the market. Economic operators are to refrain from placing these products on the market. Legal action will be taken against those operators who are found to make these products available on the market.
For further information or for complaints regarding dangerous consumer products please call the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority on 23952000.
