The Xaghra Local Council has said that the much-awaited asphalting works on the first part of Marsalforn Road will start this coming Monday, the 3rd of June. “With the competent authorities, mainly the Water Services Corporation, having given their necessary authorisation for such works to be carried out.”
The Council said that it would like to apologise for the delay in starting these necessary works. “Apart the asphalting of the first part of the road (from the start of it to residence number 50), the whole work will consist of the changing of the water and sewage mains so that the system will be more adequate for today’s needs. A storm water culvert will also be constructed to help minimise the problem of flooding in that area.”
“These works will unavoidably cause some inconvenience for all Xaghra residents especially those who live in Marsalforn Road,” the Council said. However, it “is confident that everyone will understand the need that this road, which has been in a very bad state for a long time, is given a new surface for the benefit of those who use it.”
The Council would like to thank the residents for their cooperation.

Better planning in winter . It is not the the first time that the main works starting always in summer .
Walter .This type of construction can be done in the middle of Winter, because there is no Ice or Frost in Malta ,and this work can be done with no problem in Winter months . I live in Toronto area and we have snow and Ice in November ,and they still pave our Hi Ways in November . There is no reason why they cannot do it in Malta . In Winter time . GOZITAN
