The 16th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival gets underway on Wednesday. For the inaugural concert, violin virtuoso Dejan Bogdanovich will join with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the Festival’s Artistic Director, Joseph Vella.

Dejan Bogdanovich will be performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concert in D Major op. 35. Other works by Rossini, Grieg and Isouard are also included in the programme.

The inaugural concert, which will be under the distinguished patronage of both the civic and ecclesiastical authorities in Malta, will be held at St George’s Basilica and starts at 8pm.

The concert is also part of the celebrations organised by the Victoria Local Council in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the conferral of the City Status to Rabat, the ancient town of Gozo, which draw to a close this week.
