Oscar Wilde’s 1891 tragedy ‘Salome’ tells the biblical story of Salome, stepdaughter of the tetrarch Herod Antipas, who, to her stepfather’s dismay, but to the delight of her mother Herodias, requests the head of Johanaan, John the Baptist, on a silver platter as a reward for dancing the dance of the seven veils.
This one act play was recently presented at the Centru Kulturali at the Cittadella to a packed audience with leading Maltese artists Mario Micallef, Larissa Bonaci, Nathalie Micallef and Alan Fenech. Micallef himself directed the play, translated to Maltese by veteran Alfred Palma.
The ‘Talenti’ production was under the auspicies of the Kumitat Festi Nazzjonali u Regjonali.
