Wirja tal-Biedja u Snajja opens Wednesday evening in the Villa RundlePart of the programme of festivities for this week’s Santa Marija Feast in Gozo, is the annual – Wirja tal-Biedja u Snajja – agricultural and industrial exhibition

Visitors to the exhibition can experience traditional Gozitan sights and sounds in the beautiful setting of the Villa Rundle Gardens, Victoria.

The show, which is a major attraction during the feast, is organised by by the Agrarian, Industrial and Cultural Society of Gozo has been taking place on the island since 1855.

The organisers said that 4,000 exhibits will be on show to the public, including produce, livestock, poultry, vegetables, song birds and farm machinery.

Gozo’s artisan work and crafts, produce, locally produced wines, oil and honey are also showcased during the exhibition.

The exhibition will be officially opened at 7pm tomorrow evening by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana and blessed by the Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech.

The 2-day event is suitable for all ages and tastes, with family entertainment related to traditional folklore on Wednesday evening, the 14th of August, including between 8pm and 8.45pm, a reenactment of a typical Gozitan wedding by the Astra Folk Group.

On Thursday, the 15th in the morning, the awards ceremony takes place at 11am with the presentation of trophies and cash prizes by the Minister for Gozo Dr Justyne Caruana, to the best exhibit in each of the categories.

The exhibition is open on Wednesday 7.00am – 11.15pm and Thursday 7.00am – 1.00pm.
