The National Blood Transfusion Service has thanked the 35 donors who called at the Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, on Tuesday to make donations

The Service said that this “wonderful number” fills everyone with courage and they look forward to the numbers eventually getting back to where they were before the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Service is once again inviting Gozitans to donate blood during a session this Sunday, the 21st of June, at the Blood Donation Centre in Xewkija, Gozo, between 8:00am and 1:00pm (last registration until 1:00pm).

“Also on this special day – Father’s Day – it is worth remembering that there will be a number of fathers in hospitals across the Maltese islands who are in need of blood transfusions as part of their treatment,” the Service said.

The donation centre is located at the Xewkija Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

The Service reminds everyone that it is important to always take your Identity Card, or Driving License or Maltese Passport and to drink plenty of water beforehand. Also, please encourage others to donate if possible.

The Service stressed that due to the Covid-19 situation all necessary measures are being taken to protect anyone who comes to donate blood, as well as the professionals who provide them with a service.

“Blood donors are informed that no swabbing tests are carried out at any stage of the blood donation,” the Service said.
