19 year old Gail Attard was the overall winner of Saturday’s second edition of the Kantamaghna Festival in Gozo.

24 singers aged between 10 and 30 years participated in Kantamaghna – A Singers’ Festival, organised by DCapitals Big Band with the support of the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo and Distinct Homes Ltd.

The main aim of this festival is to give exposure to young talent in Gozo and Malta and give them the opportunity perform accompanied by a live 18-piece big band.Gail Attard wins second edition of Kantamaghna Festival in GozoThe singers were all accompanied by the – DCapitals Big Band under the direction of Mro George Apap.

The other awards presented on the night were:

Distinct Talent Award: Eliza Stellini

Winner Category A: Eliza Stellini

Runner-up Cat. A: Julia Ricci Costa

Winner Category B: Julia Azzopardi

Runner-up Cat. B: Riona Degiorgio

Winner Category C: Gail Attard

Runner-up Cat. C: Danica Muscat

The festival was held at the Teatru Astra in Gozo with a limited audience according to the Health Authority’s directives, due to the Covid-19 situation.

The three judges were local renowned singers: Nadine Axisa, Fabrizio Faniello and Ruth Portelli. The festival was hosted by Clara Sciberras and Fabian Demicoli.
