Gozitan band The Travellers join in the annual festive road safety campaignGozitan band The Travellers have teamed up with the Malta Road Safety Council and Transport Malta to launch the annual festive season road safety campaign, which this year has the slogan – Don’t let a day go by full of tears. If you drink, don’t drive!

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg said that this year the campaign was co-produced with the popular group The Travellers, who recorded an album called ‘Empty Seat’ which contains a very strong message – telling a heartbreaking story about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

Minister Ian Borg began stressed that this message is one that applies throughout the year, but especially in these festive times where there are more invitations and celebrations.

“In these times, where you may drink a little more, we encourage people to use alternative modes of transport such as taxis and public transport to avoid accidents,” he said.

A short video will be published during December by Transport Malta, as well as an educational campaign that will be shown on both social media and local television.

Each member of The Travellers band will send out a message through radio announcements, so that together we can continue to encourage everyone not to drive under the influence of alcohol. These messages will also be on digital street monitors.
