December's rate of inflation as measured by the RPI down to 1.2%Last month, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI was 1.2%, down from 1.3% in November, according to latest data from the National Statistics Office.

The highest annual inflation rates in December, were registered in other goods and services (3.4%) and personal care and health (3.1%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in furnishings and household equipment (-1.4%) and housing (-0.1%).

The largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the personal care and health index (+0.27 percentage points), largely due to higher prices for items of personal hygiene, the NSO said.

While the largest downward contribution was recorded in the furnishings and household equipment index (-0.10 percentage points), mainly reflecting lower prices of furniture, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for December stood at 1.7%.
