Update: The Malta Ranger Unit said that late on Monday evening a member of the public found an injured Scops Owl. MRU Rangers retrieved it and took it to the Malta Government vet.

“The owl was very unwell, but will undergo rehabilitation with BirdLife Malta,” the MRU said. “The bird was x-rayed and no shotgun injuries were found.” Originally the MRU informed that the owl had to be euthanised but then issued an update with the above.

The MRU expressed its thanks to the person who found the owl and the several NGOs that assisted them on this case.

MRU said its Rangers are out patrolling the Maltese countryside 24/7 and are always available on WhatsApp 7937 8118.

“Our greatest strength as an NGO is that we are likely to be at the right place at the right time. It enables us to assist the Public and many NGOs in their daily operations,” said the MRU.
