Situation at Victoria Health Centre cannot continue to be accepted - TaboneOpposition Spokesperson for Gozo, Frank Tabone, has highlighted the situation at the Victoria Health Centre, when ”an elderly woman had to wait thirty minutes outside the centre, in the sun and heat, only to then go inside and wait another two hours to receive medical care.”

Frank Tabone stressed that ”the service is under considerable pressure, and this situation cannot continue to be accepted. We need concrete and immediate action.”

Tabone insisted that the Health Centre should be open 24-hours a day. ”I have also raised a Parliamentary Question on this matter, but to date, I am still waiting for an answer.”

Last month, the Shadow Minister for Gozo also called for the Health Centre to be in operation 24-hours a day as had been promised, and said that, ”while I understand that an electoral programme gives the Government a full legislature to fulfil its promises, I believe that this should be an immediate priority.”

Shadow Minister for Gozo Frank Tabone concluded by saying that, ”I cannot fail to thank all the Health Centre staff for their daily work, despite the limited resources available to them. It is now the Government’s responsibility to increase resources and ensure that the people of Gozo receive the healthcare service they deserve.”

I can personally relate to this also. Waited over an hour in the waiting room, then doctor inside gave me less than 5 minutes, and wasn’t really interested in what I had to say, couldn’t wait to get rid of me. Please do something especially for the sick and elderly.
